The conference began on Friday afternoon with a newcomers orientation, a welcoming reception and dinner and a keynote address.  Saturday, the conference featured a series of panel discussions on problems related to academic integrity, small group discussions and a mock trial of a W&L honor code violation.  Sunday, the conference concluded with a series of workshops on honor and integrity and a closing address.

 The Responsibility Symposium- Brochure

The academic centerpiece of the 250th observance is a University Symposium on "Religion, Law, and Public Responsibility" organized by Winston Davis, Professor of Religion. Professor Davis plans on hosting nearly 20 speakers, seven of whom will deliver lectures addressing legal responsibility. Most notably, Henry Ashby Turner '54, Professor of History at Yale University, will deliver a lecture on Hitler, the Third Reich, and modern Germany. At the end of the academic year 1998-99, Davis will compile the lectures into a book that will be published in the fall of 1999.
